| He emigrated from Pyhäjärvi to Minnesota USA. He left Glasgow on May 24th 1913 with s/s California and arrived to Ellis Islands on June the 2nd 1913. He had a train ticket to Minnesota and mention as his friend he mentioned Juho Huppunen living in Bowey Minnesota. Appearently a reliative to Karl’s mother Maria b. Huppunen. At that time Finland was still a Russian Governement. It is said that they needed 68USD to leave the country. They lived at 222 Humboldt avenue 44th street when their son was born. Later they moved From Minnesota to Lake Worth Florida. Karl Johan was rgeistered as Kaarle Juhana at the arrival and later he registered as Carl John Federley in USA. In my archieves is the signed document of Carl John where he is applying for social security insurance on the 30th of November 1936. He signed the documents with the name John Federley. He never came back to visit his relatives in Finland. His wife Lydia however once travelled to Finland. During world war 2 John’s relatives in Finland received many parcels with things needed during these hard times. John Worked at General Mills in Minnesota. |
